Gray bark often appears white with lichen. Loves an occasionally flooded landscape. Can't handle deep shade.

Great wildlife winter food source with it's tiny cone-like strobiles.

Not ultra long-live in tree years, but considerable in human years. Breaks apart in huge chunks as it matures to decay - excellent for wildlife and nutrient cycling, terrible for standing underneath on a windy day (when it's old, like decades from now).
