Of the three Northwest native Prosartes species (fairybells), this has the largest flowers.
The first picture here is that of the Hooker's fairybells, (Prosartes hookeri) but Smith's fairybells looks exactly like this with the flowers less blown open. It was a really good picture and now you know a major difference in the two species.
White flowers come in pairs, blooming on the underside of the leaves. The delicate geometry of the stem and leaf architecture makes this plant a perfect addition to a shady ground cover mix.
