Native Strawberry : Fragaria chiloensis & virginiana
Yes, this is a wild relation of the domesticated fruit that we know and love. If you do not love the sweet, sweet strawberry fruits - we respect and lament your plight.
Local native strawberries look similar to the farmed version, growing along trailing runners. Small white flowers bloom in the spring before bearing early season fruit.
This plant prefers moist, partial shade and/or well-drained clearings.
Understandably, local people have eaten it for millennia, even using its leaves to make a tea rich in vitamin C.
Please specify in ordering notes if you have a species preference.
