Douglas Spirea : Spiraea douglasii
Bella Coola and Lummi natives often used this plant to hang salmon for drying and cooking; and it is as adaptable in the soil as it is out.
While this plant can tolerate most soil conditions, it thrives in wet areas. For the optimum bloom; full sun or dappled shade is best.
This is a woody shrub and can be over 6 feet at full maturity, if left unpruned. While Spirea is another pick for pollinators, deer do not usually browse.
