Black Hawthorn : Crataegus douglasii

This cool shrub/smaller tree has sharp thorns to protect its plump purple/black edible fruit. Cute 5 petal white flower clusters at branch tips are common in the late spring.

This tree/shrub could reach a maximum height between 9 and 30 ft tall and up to 15 ft wide.
Pruning is suggested to avoid thickets forming.
